I år har Propellen Teater og Krysinska Produksjoner tatt et nytt initiativ til besøk fra Palestinske scenekunstnere i forbindelse med det treårige fokuset på Artivisme i scenekunsten.

Vi har invitert Emile Saba (kunstnerisk leder for Ashtar Theatre i Ramallah) og Ashtar Muallem (scenekunstner/sirkusartist fra Palestina/Frankrike).

29.07.25, 18.00 - COSMOS (forestilling i Vår Frues Kirke)

Hva skjer når du blander humor, spiritualitet og en elastisk kropp i yogastilling med tarotkort, minner fra bestemor og liv mellom to kulturer?

Møt Ashtar Muallem – en kunstner fra Jerusalem som lever med ett bein i Palestina og det andre i Frankrike. Med varme, selvironi og rå kroppslighet inviterer hun oss inn i et poetisk rituale, der grensene mellom det personlige og det universelle viskes ut.

COSMOS er en morsom og rørende forestilling som blander teater og sirkus – om å søke balanse i et liv som spenner seg over flere språk, land, tro og minner. Det er en hyllest til tvetydighet, motsetninger – og til alt som knytter oss sammen, på tvers av avstander og ulikheter.

Workshop for youth “My Monster”
This workshop invites young participants into a playful, physical, and imaginative process of character creation. Using Jacques Lecoq’s animal work as a foundation, we will explore how movement, instinct, and transformation help us embody different characters and emotions on stage. The work encourages curiosity, freedom, and a deep connection between physicality and storytelling.
We will also draw from improvisation, ensemble games, and personal reflection to build confidence and presence. Participants will explore how their own experiences and imagination can give life to theatrical expression—finding joy in both subtle detail and bold expression.
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in freely, and bring a notebook for reflections and character sketches. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to play, explore, and express.

Workshop for professionals “The personal is Political”
The workshop is a collective gathering and a deep dive into political theatre as a space of confrontation, vulnerability, and transformation. Together, we will explore the personal and the collective narrative and how it becomes a tool of resistance—how theatre can respond to systems of oppression without sacrificing complexity or beauty.
Participants will work with the body, voice, and personal as well as collective stories. The work is grounded in techniques such as Meisner, Jack Lecoq, improvisational theatre, and testimonial performance. We will build a space where artistic expression can emerge from urgency, memory, and shared presence—investigating how to hold contradiction, grief, and hope on stage.
Participants should wear comfortable clothes they can move in freely. Please bring a personal story, an object that holds meaning to you, and optionally, a piece of political or historical text that resonates with your experience. These will be used as material for exploration and creation during the workshop.

This masterclass is an invitation to engage with the aesthetic, political, and emotional textures of Palestinian theatre. Through readings, movement-based exploration, and scene work, we will consider how resistance, tenderness, and fragmentation manifest in Palestinian storytelling.
